A public barrel racing event is planned for Flintfields on Saturday

A Battle of the North Race family event will take place on Saturday, August 20 at Flintfields Horse Park in Williamsburg, featuring horse racing, live music, food and drink, and activities for children.

An invitation-only event for competitors, Battle of the North will be open to the public for spectator viewing. Doors open at 10:30 a.m., the national anthem will be played at noon, barrel racing will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., and ReBooted will perform classic country and rock songs from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. There will also be a school-inspired western hat contest. Barrel racers will compete in a long round of bloodshed with a chance to make it back to the finals, according to the event description.

“This show is fully choreographed and fun for all ages,” according to event organizers. “The region’s show producers have joined forces to create the Battle of the North Racing event in Northern Michigan. By joining forces, this event offers competitors the opportunity to experience high quality shows with a positive environment and good payouts throughout Northern Michigan.”

Family admission for the event is $25, general admission is $10, and children 12 and under are free. Advance tickets and more information are available online here.
