Dayco’s triple impact at Australia’s biggest motor racing event this weekend

Dayco, a leading supplier of engine components and drive systems to the automotive, industrial and aftermarket industries worldwide, will compete in three major motorsport categories at the world’s most popular motor racing event. Australia’s famous Bathurst 1000 2019, to be held this weekend (Oct 10-13) at Mount Panorama.

Dayco’s premium TV and event coverage in 2019 continues with the Bathurst debut of the Monster Energy Tickford Racing Ford Mustang driven by Cameron Waters. The Dayco-sponsored driver is currently fifth in the Supercar Championship and has scored six podium finishes so far this season in his stunning matte black Mustang.

Long-term Dayco ambassador David Russell also returns to Supercars in the mountains this weekend, teaming up with Matt Stone Racing (MSR) and Sherrin Rentals in the Dunlop Super2 Series 250 kilometer endurance race. in Bathurst to be held on Saturday, October 12. This weekend’s Super2 race at Bathurst will feature the driver (Russell) and sponsor (Sherrin Rentals) who made their debut at Mount Panorama ten years ago.

Since then ‘Dayco Dave’ Russell has gone on to build a successful career as an endurance racing specialist in Australia and overseas, bringing an enviable Super2 series pedigree to the nationally televised Bathurst Super2 race this weekend.

In 2010 Russell raced to his first Supercar pole position and won both races in a clean sweep of the Bathurst Super2 Series round, followed by a second place finish at the Bathurst Super2 Series round in 2011 Russell has qualified and finished in the top three in all of his Super2 Series races at Mount Panorama during his career.

In addition to his Super2 Series/DVS experience, Russell celebrated a decade of endurance co-driver racing in the mainline Bathurst Supercar series last season, having competed there with Fernandez Racing (1 season), Kelly Racing (2 seasons) , Nissan Motorsport (5 seasons) and last season with Tickford Racing. Dayco has proudly been part of Bathurst’s last seven campaigns with Russell.

Dayco Motorsport’s third high profile marketing platform for Australia’s biggest motor racing weekend is the launch of the Dayco Carrera Cup Porsche at Mount Panorama at the hands of Tag Heuer Pro-Am Championship leader, Roger Lago.

Lago enjoyed a stellar Porsche Carrera Cup season that included the first pole position for a Pro-Am driver, three race wins and consistent top-five performances to keep him within reach of the Tag Heuer Pro Am title in this penultimate round of the 2019 Championship.

According to MSR Team Principal Matt Stone, “It’s good to have David Russell back in the team. We raced together in the 12 hours at the start of the year and it’s good to be able to continue the relationship in Super2. We have faced Russell in Super2 for years, so we are well aware of his abilities and what he will bring.

“I had some great Super2 races at Bathurst and with such a strong team I’m looking forward to a really strong race this weekend,” said Russell.
