Kelowna thrill seeker returns to rally

Mark Jennings-Bates is back behind the wheel of the Rocky Mountain Rally this weekend

Local adrenaline junkie Mark Jennings-Bates returns for the rally racing action.

The former Western Canada Open Class champion takes up the challenge of returning to rallying after a long hiatus. He started in 2005 and quickly rose through the ranks.

Jennings-Bates and his team will be looking to compete with the newest and fastest cars at the upcoming Canadian Rocky Mountain Rally Championships.

“A lot has changed since I started rallying,” said Jennings-Bates. “I think the completion is faster overall and the equipment is different day and night. We’re using an older Mitsubishi which will have a hard time keeping up with the top five, but hopefully we’ll be able to navigate it. “

The self-proclaimed “compassionate psychopath” has been thrill-seeking all over the world with his charitable work and various commercial work. He now works in Kelowna as a motivational speaker, consultant and life coach.

Jennings-Bates will be joined by his wife and co-driver Jackie at the rally championships starting May 24 in Invermere, British Columbia. The duo will be looking for a solid performance to finish at the top of the 40-team race.
