We call you “to the station” today to ask for your support and join the Kentucky Hippodrome Chaplaincy in honoring 20 years of ministry.
The Race for Grace Banquet and Auction, which will be held on Monday May 2 on Millionaires Row in the historic Churchill Downs Clubhouse from 6-9pm,
is our premier fundraising event and the funds generated here enable us to continue our mission of meeting the basic and spiritual needs of riders and women working at racetracks and training centers in Kentucky and Southern Ohio .
Each year, more than 7,000 licensees work at racetracks in Kentucky and southern Ohio. Kentucky Racetrack Chaplaincy serves stable workers, jockeys, starters and track personnel, ensuring they can have a family church and a home away from home from their house. There are three chaplains in the five tracks and several training centers as well as women and children ministry directors. The chaplaincy provides a clothes closet, food bank, weekly services and Bible studies, women’s and children’s ministries, transportation to off-road appointments, and moral support as needed.
Hall of Fame jockey and Kentucky Derby winner Pat Day will be the emcee.
The keynote speaker will be nationally recognized pastor Bob Russell. At only twenty-two, Bob became the pastor of Southeastern Christian Church in Louisville, Kentucky. This small congregation of 120 members grew into one of the largest churches in America, with 18,000 people attending three services each weekend in 2006 when Bob retired. Now, through Bob Russell Ministries, Bob continues to preach in churches and conferences across the United States, provide counsel to church leaders, mentor other ministers, and produce studies video Bibles.
There will be a live auction with Keeneland Auctioneers Manager Ryan Mahan and items will include 6 seat boxes for the 2023 Kentucky Derby and Oaks, leather halters from the 2022 Kentucky Derby entries and a silent auction with artwork and horse racing memorabilia.
