At approximately 5:13 a.m., the Iron County Sheriff’s Department responded to reports of an accident at Three Peaks Oasis on the Lund Highway, Lt. Jeff Humphries said. A 25-year-old man from Santaquin crashed while riding a course at the event and was unresponsive.

The cause of the crash has not been determined, Sheriff Cpl. said Brandon Kennedy.

When the sheriff’s department arrived, the man was being treated by privately contracted paramedics, after which an Intermountain Life Flight helicopter was called, Humphries said. Deputies helped load him into the helicopter, after which he was transported to St. George’s Regional Hospital.

The scene was cleared without incident, Humphries said.

Kennedy said the department does not know the man’s current condition or specific information regarding his injuries. No other injuries or property damage were reported.

Gold Cross Ambulance also responded to the scene.
