The Super Bowl of the mountain biking world returns to the South.

The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI MTB) Mountain Bike World Cup returns to Snowshoe Mountain this summer, marking the third time the West Virginia resort has hosted the flagship event on the World Cup circuit. downhill, cross country and short track racing.

Snowshoe first hosted the event in September 2019, which also marked the race’s first time in the United States in nearly half a decade. Attracting a crowd of nearly 15,000 fans, it was celebrated as one of the most memorable World Cup races of all time, winning Pinkbike’s coveted ‘Event of the Year’.

“Admittedly, I was quite skeptical when it was announced that Snowshoe would host a World Cup,” said Russell Finsterwald, one of America’s top bikers, recalling the event. “I knew the track could be worthy of a World Cup, but being in the boonies a four hour drive from any major city had me worried it would feel a little deserted, but I was wrong.”

The event returned in 2021 and did not disappoint. Between the perfect weather, enthusiastic crowd and incredibly exciting results, it was a well-received success.

Snowshoe has become a premier biking destination over the past 25 years, hosting the NORBA, AMBC, Monster Park Nationals, Collegiate Nationals, multiple Pro GRT Series stops, and the USA Cycling National Mountain Bike Championships. 2017 and 2018. The resort’s trails offer a range of technical challenges including roots, rocks and steep inclines.

“Last year, Snowshoe in West Virginia, USA, hosted one of the most exciting World Cup finals in recent history,” Redbull said on its website, where fans can broadcast live events. “While the downhill course here is technical, the cross-country course is fast – and renowned for its tight races.”

Although Snowshoe will not host cup finals, as it did in 2019 and 2021, the event remains one of the most anticipated mountain bike races in the country this year. The best mountain bikers in the world will face off at Snowshoe Mountain this summer from July 29-31.
