The 8th Annual Christian County Fair Race Event To Be Held On Wednesday Night Tripleheader Features Three Popular Divisions

The 2022 Christian County Agricultural Fair opens Tuesday July 19 and runs through July 23, but it was Wednesday July 20 that racing fans marked the return of three racing divisions on their calendars. The Taylorville, Illinois Fair put the races back on the schedule in 2014, much to the delight of area runners and fans. The event is promoted by Track Enterprises of Macon, IL.

This year’s Christian County Fair triple header will once again feature Sportsman, Street Stocks and Hornets. While all races will be sanctioned by the UMP, the Street Stock event is also part of the Big Ten Series. Sportsman and Street Stock events will pay $500 to win, while the Hornets will race for a top prize of $200.

Last year’s event saw one of the largest crowds and highest number of cars in the event’s history. The 2021 edition saw over 20 Street Stocks, 16 Sportsman and 12 Hornets on track. Jeremy Nichols won the Big Ten Street Stock event, while Tommy Duncan won the Sportsman feature and Brady Reed took first place for the Hornets.

The pits open at 4:00 a.m. on Wednesday July 20, the grandstands at 5:00 a.m., the competitor draw ends when the drivers’ meeting begins at 6:00 a.m., hotlaps at 6:20 a.m., with racing action taking the green at 7:00 a.m.

Macon Speedway rules will apply to all racing classes. For more information, visit or For details, call 217-764-3200.
